The Episcopal Church in America is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion of Churches. Churches in the Anglican Communion evolved from the Church of England and share a common faith, heritage, and theology expressed through the Book of Common Prayer. In this family of churches there are over seventy million members within twenty-nine autonomous Anglican churches throughout the world.
Sometimes we are called the "bridge" church between Catholic and Protestant expressions of faith. Our worship is liturgical and sacramental in the Catholic tradition and yet we share in the Reformed tradition using Scripture to judge and inform the Church and we give voice and participation to laity in all areas of church life.
Our beliefs are grounded in the Bible, the ancient creeds, and in church tradition. We value also thoughtful reflection, conscience, and experience as tools for living the Christian Faith.
We believe faith in the living God is experienced most fully in a community gathered and sustained by worship, fellowship, learning, care, and outreach and service to others.
The Episcopal Church, however, cannot easily be described, but is best experienced by coming and participating in its life and worship as often as you can. We welcome seekers and those wishing to learn more about our Church and the Christian life.
