Hollis has been drawing and painting since he was a youngster. In college he won the award for the best mural. As a young adult in California he entered local juried shows. Acceptance of his work encouraged him to continue striving to do better and better work. While living in Idaho in the early 80s he worked daily on his art and started entering and gaining acceptance in regional and national juried shows, and became a consistent award winner.
